Overview

The Chery Fulwin T9 is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) mid-size SUV under Chery Automobile's Fulwin new energy lineup. On 16 May 2026, the Fulwin T9 Long Range Edition officially made its market debut as a 2026 model year facelift. The updated SUV is offered in three variants, with official retail prices ranging from RM119,900 to RM139,900, alongside limited-time promotional voucher prices between RM109,900 and RM129,900. Positioned as an "ultra-long-range smart luxury SUV" tailored for family buyers, it comes in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. Its primary competitors in the segment include same-class plug-in hybrid SUVs such as the BYD Song Pro DM-i and Haval Xiaolong.
Design Language
The Fulwin T9 Long Range Edition carries forward the Chery Fulwin family's Oriental aesthetic design philosophy. Up front, it features a redesigned "Silk String" grille inspired by the traditional Chinese guqin, utilizing vertical flowing slats to evoke a rhythmic, poised yet assertive visual stance. Automatic LED headlamps, dynamic sequential turn indicators, and welcome lighting ceremonies come standard across the range, seamlessly integrating the lighting units into the front grille. In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 4,816 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width, and 1,738 mm in height, with a 2,770 mm wheelbase. Overall length has grown by 21 mm over the earlier 120 km variant. The exterior colour palette introduces new exclusive shades such as Shilin Grey and Moyan Grey to cater to diverse aesthetic tastes. At the rear, a sleek full-width LED light bar delivers a bold, planted stance.
Inside, the cabin adopts a fresh Walnut Brown colour theme paired with a 3D-mesh suede-finish dashboard, creating an inviting and premium ambience. All variants come equipped with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating infotainment display. The gear selector uses a column-mounted electronic shift stalk, freeing up the centre console for a clean and functional layout.
Powertrain & Performance
Under the bonnet, the Fulwin T9 Long Range Edition is driven by Chery's Kunpeng Super Hybrid C-DM 5.0 system. The powertrain combines a fifth-generation ACTECO 1.5-litre TGDI dedicated hybrid engine with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. The engine delivers a maximum output of 115 kW with a thermal efficiency of 45.79%; total system output stands at 265 kW (approx. 360 PS) and 530 Nm of torque. The drivetrain is paired with a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 7.8 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h.
Electric driving range serves as the headline update for this facelift. The vehicle packs a 32.66 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack (Rhino H Hybrid Battery) equipped with liquid cooling thermal management. Pure electric range reaches 220 km under the CLTC cycle—an increase of over 80% compared to the previous 120 km version. On a full tank and full charge, the combined WLTC range exceeds 1,800 km. Combined fuel consumption under the WLTC cycle is rated as low as 1.35 L/100 km, with battery-depleted fuel economy averaging around 5.2 to 5.6 L/100 km. For charging, it supports 80 kW DC fast charging, replenishing the battery from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes; AC slow charging from 10% to 100% takes approximately 5.5 hours. A 6.6 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) external power supply is standard across the range. The vehicle runs on RON 92 petrol.
Chassis & Handling
Underpinnings consist of a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension setup. The chassis is tuned for a planted and composed ride, striking a balance between passenger comfort and handling composure. Higher-spec variants benefit from CDC electromagnetic damping suspension, which adjusts damping rates in real time to elevate ride quality. Drive is sent to the front wheels (FWD), supported by an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. Braking is handled by front ventilated discs and rear solid discs. Some test reviews noted that initial pedal bite feels relatively soft, requiring slight adaptation in stop-and-go city traffic. Multiple drive modes are available to suit various driving conditions, from urban commutes to long-distance highway cruising.
Cabin & Equipment
On the technology front, the Fulwin T9 is fitted with the Lingxi Smart Cabin 2.0 system. The infotainment suite is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset as standard, with higher trims offering an optional or upgraded high-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 8255 chip. Running on the Lion OS, it supports natural voice control, live connected navigation, smart split-screen display, 3D interactive UI, and Task Cube customizable routines. Smartphone integration supports Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and Carlink. The vehicle also supports full-domain FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air) updates and Sentry Mode.
For occupant comfort, the seats are trimmed in premium faux leather. The entry Premium spec features a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat; the Prestige spec adds driver's seat memory, welcome function, 4-way power front passenger seat, and seat heating; while the Flagship trim elevates luxury with 10-point front seat massage, 3-level heating and ventilation, a driver's headrest speaker, and a one-touch recline "Queen's Co-pilot" front passenger seat with an electric leg rest. A heated steering wheel is also available. Audio options include 6-speaker, 8-speaker, and a top-tier 14-speaker Boya Sound audio system. Other highlights include 50W wireless smartphone charging, 256-colour ambient lighting, and the C-PURE Clean Cube cabin air filtration system featuring infant-grade eco-friendly materials, active AQS air quality monitoring, and a PM0.3 high-efficiency cabin filter.
When it comes to practicality, the Fulwin T9 is available in 5-seater and "5+2" 7-seater configurations with up to 12 flexible seating arrangements. Second-row legroom reaches up to 1,019 mm. Folding both the second and third rows down via one-touch controls creates a flat 2.1 m² cargo bed that can easily function as a camping mattress or resting space.
Safety & Driver Assistance
Safety-wise, the Fulwin T9 is engineered to global 5-star crash safety standards. Its high-rigidity safety cage incorporates 85% high-strength steel, with thermoformed ultra-high-strength steel making up 21%. It also features an oversized aluminium alloy front crash beam backed by four crash energy-absorbing boxes. Passive safety includes seven airbags, featuring a front centre far-side airbag and full-length 2,090 mm / 2,060 mm curtain airbags. On the high-voltage front, the IP68-rated battery pack features automatic high-voltage disconnection within 2 milliseconds in a collision, monitored around the clock across more than 800 sensor points.
Advanced driver assistance is provided by the Falcon 500 intelligent driving system. Level 2 (L2) ADAS comes standard across the range, with mid-to-high variants upgradeable to Level 2.5 and Level 2.9 capabilities. The hardware array includes 21 high-precision sensors (5 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 4 millimetre-wave radars). The feature suite includes full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Centring Control (LCC Plus), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Highway Navigation on Autopilot (HNOA with automated on/off ramp navigation and indicator-activated lane changes), Auto Parking Assist (APA), and Remote Parking Assist (RPA). A 540-degree surround-view camera system and real-time Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) are also included.
Market Performance & Verdict
Since its initial release, the Fulwin T9 has posted solid market figures, with monthly sales crossing the 10,000-unit milestone in Q4 2024 and full-year 2025 volume reaching around 53,000 units. Sales momentum softened in early 2026, recording 3,421 cumulative deliveries in the first two months. Against this backdrop, the Long Range Edition was introduced with an aggressive "more kit for the same price" strategy to reignite sales momentum.
From a product standpoint, the Fulwin T9 has built strong competitive differentiation in the RM100,000 to RM150,000 plug-in hybrid mid-size SUV segment, bolstered by its Kunpeng C-DM 5.0 powertrain, 220 km pure electric range, over 1,800 km total range, flexible 5+2 seating layout, 85% high-strength steel architecture, and Falcon 500 ADAS suite. During the 2025 Bitauto "NEV Real-World Range Test", a fully loaded Fulwin T9 running in Sport mode at sustained 120 km/h highway speeds covered 1,078.5 km on a single tank and charge, returning a fuel consumption of 6.71 L/100 km. In August of the same year, a real-world incident where a Fulwin T9 plunged 20 metres down a slope saw its airbags deploy properly and maintain pressure for 6 seconds, while the battery pack remained intact without catching fire—allowing the driver to walk away with minor injuries and providing solid real-world validation of its structural integrity.
In terms of owner feedback, customers have largely praised its powertrain responsiveness, ride comfort, real-world range, and cabin roominess. However, some users have noted minor build quality issues with body hardware and electronics, as well as subjective mixed opinions on exterior styling; engine noise under hard acceleration and occasional lag in infotainment menu responses have also been highlighted as areas for refinement. On the sales promotion front, buyers until 30 June 2026 are offered seven promotional incentives: an RM10,000 cash rebate, an RM5,000 trade-in subsidy, zero down payment with 5-year low-interest financing, a lifetime warranty on the vehicle and EV powertrain components (for the first private non-commercial owner), lifetime free basic telematics data, lifetime free roadside assistance and FOTA updates, as well as a home wallbox charger with standard installation valued at RM4,000 for just RM1,099.
